| Have not been here for aaages. Crazy how time flies by. What has changed? Nothing really. Not sure if it is for good or for bad. Still traveling like mad and still enjoying a huge part of it and still hating another part of it. Besides that - all still the same. :-)
This morning my flight itinerary sounds quite straight forward Brussels - Amsterdam - Billund. Where the hell is Billund would be (most naturally) your next question. Well, it's in the middle of nowhere Denmark. And from there I still have to drive with a rental car to Aarhus. I will be there till Friday night and ... will come there again for a couple of days next week. | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| Brussels 5° C today, but in Oslo -8°C. What to pack? I've never been to Norway before and only heard that temperatures were very mild up there North thanks to the Golfstream. D'you call this "mild"? | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| Merry Christmas!!! Hope you all enjoy the holiday season with your family and loved ones around you! | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| Less than 24 hours out of airport and here we go again! :-) A description of a rush day yesterday: land in Amsterdam 5.50 am - miss a connection to Brussels - rebook to the next flight - get a free upgrade to business - have breakfast - fly to Brussels - take a train home, change, shower - drive to work - work work work - drive back to the city - unpack - go for an evening language class - come home, pack, iron, pack - sleep 5 hours - wake up at 6 am - take a train to the airport - wait for your plane and post to LiveJournal.
So who was talking about the glamor of travel? :-) | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| A long "commuting trip" just to be back in the office on Monday morning!
Boston - close to +20°C, Detroit freezing and snow, what to expect from Amsterdam and Brussels. My best guess is ... rain. Prove me wrong!! | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| | Cambridge, Oxford, Exeter, Plymouth ... sounds like being in Britain. No, no we are in the US. I guess you tell me what else to expect from New England. But ... I am lost. :-/ | comments: 2 commentaires or Envoyez un commentaire |
| Time to cross the Ocean again! It least it sounds like the weather in Boston is not that chilly for the middle of November, which is good news.
Otherwise, the "change" is beginning to materialize, last night had a talk with "another big boss". :-) The change will most probably be not so drastic - just changing jobs and moving one floor up in our headquarters :-))) At least the move is in the right direction - "the only way is up, baby ...." Who was this? Rick Ashley, or something like this.... :-)))
And the best thing about it - I will keep travelling!!!! :-))) | comments: 3 commentaires or Envoyez un commentaire |

Due to recent budget cuts and the cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions and the continued decline of the U.S. economy, The Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for the inconvenience.

| Believe me or not, this is my first ever time in Barcelona!
Not that I have not been in the region before. Girona, just like 20 km away has been visited at least twice, on the way to the French skiing resorts. But Barcelona ... first time. I arrive at the airport and go to pick my luggage. Instead of "equipaje" the work describing luggage collection point does not ring a bell ... at all! Only then I remember the infamous episode from "L'oberge espagnol" where Erasmus students in the class asking the teacher to talk in Casteliano Spanish instead of Catalan! Welcome to Catalonia! :-) | comments: 1 commentaire or Envoyez un commentaire |
| The Change Dilemma
Ruzyne Airport in Prague gets too familiar, this is definitely a sign that I need a change. This ''need for a change'' thing is crossing my mind far too often these days. Maybe it's time to take some radical decisions? Or just stick to this ''all is fine, why bother'' attitude? I guess this ''fine'' is just not enough sometimes. The problem is that once you get from ''fine'' to ''great'' there is also potentially ''wow'' and ''amazing'' somewhere ahead and maybe even ''divine''. But when and where do you stop??? | comments: 2 commentaires or Envoyez un commentaire |
| October 12, Brussels temperature 23° C, feels like summer, only looks like autumn... Wish all week-ends were like this ...
Namur, the capital of Wallony.

Poor little me, trying to escape from work and home to get some study before my exam tomorrow morning. My exam is in Aachen, Germany, so instead of driving from Brussels tomorrow morning I thought I would get some peace and quietness here in my little lost hotel in the middle of Düsseldorf... My first strange feeling was earlier today when I arrived at the hotel. There were about 40-60 young(ish) people standing next to the hotel entrance. I stupidly thought "those people must be some tourist group waiting to be picked up by their bus". Hotel was surprisingly empty and serene. "Oh, bliss", I thought, "just what doctor prescribed for my exam preparation". I checked in, checked my room and went back to the parking lot to pick my stuff. By then the number of people "waiting for the bus" has increased significantly. I naturally thought "there must be several buses coming, otherwise they won't fit in", but then I noticed that all those people were separated by a thick cord from hotel's entrance. A penny dropped and I realized that they were actually not tourists waiting for the bus, but fans!!! Wow, as a VERY analytical person :-)) I QUICKLY figured out that some BIG POP Star was sharing the humble hotel with me. "Maybe Madonna?"
Anyway, I went back to my room, studied for a bit and then thought I would go and do some fitness. To get to their sport facilities one has to take a special fitness elevator "situated between rooms 623 and 625", read the instruction. So in this completely empty hotel I walk to the elevator, "dringg" the door opens and ... ah ... I jump in surprise .. there is a person! That was unexpected. This tall guy, all dressed in sport uniform, definitely also going down to do fitness. He mumbles "Guten Tag" and me, rude little me just gets inside the elevator still half-shocked to see a person. I follow the guy all the way to the fitness center, saying this time "Danke" every time he holds yet another door open waiting for me... Hm... well... "we" get to this fitness, which is COMPLETELY empty, but VERY nice and clean. I take one bicycle and ... he sits on another one just next to me! As if there were no other bikes in this fitness! :-)) "Those Germans", I thought. Anyway, I was too busy watching the CNN and all the horrible news from the market place, so this "violation of my private space" did not bother me too much! :-)))
Then ... I looked at the guy, as he examined me yet again with his eyes and only then ANOTHER PENNY DROPPED in my stupid head and I saw a symbol of the German football federation on his perfect fresh uniform. "That must be him, THE Star! That's why he was looking at me with amazement! Probably any other NORMAL person would be jumping all over the place asking for his autograph!"
Then came another guy, dressed in similar uniform, but with short socks. He looked also much older and not sporty at all. He greeted the first guy and, again, looked at me very strangely. "Must be the team doctor" I thought!
... forget me for it, I am so ignorant ...
After fitness I checked the internet and this "first GUY" turned out to be THE Captain of the Mannschaft, Michael Ballack. They are playing against Russia tomorrow in Duisburg's Westfalenstadium for the World 2010 Championship!
P.S. The "another guy" turned out to be the coach of goalkeepers of Germany's national team. I did not even know that goalkeepers had a separate trainer, but I guess it makes very much sense! :-) | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| What I like about London (so far)? Nearly EVERYTHING and especially: - Zillions of Theaters, Expos and Museums, wish I had a chance to see and experience them all. (Her Majesty's Theater tomorrow night!!!) - Starbucks on every corner, and VERY cheap, comparing to the only ONE for the whole of Belgium at Zaventem, the Brussels airport. I don't know what londres</lj> is complaining about! :-)) (BTW, Thanks a lot for the company! Good to see you in great form!! :-)) - Sushi, bentos and a HUGE choice of all those lovely Asian restaurants and take-aways! I could just live on those.
What I don't like so far is the Tube, so HOT, no air and no mobile phone network! :-( | comments: 1 commentaire or Envoyez un commentaire |
| Due to my loooooong Eurostar experience today I've missed what looks like a wonderful sunny day in London. :-(
But at least I've made it to the Sandler's Wells Theatre on time.
The dance show was great, very enjoyable, a bit too modern as to my taste, but still amazing. There was not one empty seat in the whole theater! Getting hungry for more culture! :-) | comments: Envoyez un commentaire |
| I have never travelled by Eurostar before. There is always a first time in everything, right? Only that I have chosen probably one of the worst days to go by train to the UK. The tunnel (or as they call it “the Chunnel”) had a major fire incident a couple of days ago. As a result, the majority of trains are cancelled… So here I am, still in Brussels, even after having gone through both the Belgian and the British Passport Controls (so probably de facto on the British territory already) but still so far away in distance and especially in time from London. My train is cancelled, but luckily there are still places left on the 3 pm train, so that’s the one I am going to take now… They say the trip itself will be much longer as well...
How shall I kill my time here? :-/ | comments: 2 commentaires or Envoyez un commentaire |
| FINALLY my work takes me to London for a week! :-) Can't wait! The cultural program will be kicked off with the last performance of Matthiew Bourne's Dorian Gray at Sadler's Wells next Sunday night. Have not had a chance to see a dance theater performance for ages. Can't wait! :-) | comments: 6 commentaires or Envoyez un commentaire |
| ... today is such a strange day, money just jumps into my hands. First I found 60 eur on the plane from Prague to Brussels and then on the way home another 50. Can not be just a coincidence, just too good to be true.
If it continues like this ... to make sure I do not miss my lucky day I have played EuroMillions lotto. There are 69 millions to be taken home tonight.
So, just in case .... You are all invited for a fabulous trip ... !!!! :-)) | comments: 3 commentaires or Envoyez un commentaire |
